An article about the Christmas stories and Nostalgia Trims published in the Grand Ledge Independent newspaper (click to enlarge). A bottom photo in the article shows Lu Beale reading a Christmas story her children. That photo first appeared in a December 1954 article in The Evening Star which provided some background on the stories.
The Evening Star, which ran Lu’s Christmas stories, ceased publication in 1981.
The Grand Ledge Independent ceased publication in 2023.
Glenn Gehlke has made a version of “Santa and the Elf Boy”. He colorized all the pictures and added information about Lu Beale, Nostalgia Trims and the artist of the “Elf Boy” images, Dick Hodgins Jr. Click the link below to check it out.
Santa and the Elf Boy Revisited
At the website Legendary Letters, Elf Stacy read Lucrece Beale’s Christmas story, “Santa and the Pigwidgen”. This appears to have been done as part of a podcast back in 2010. It’s listed as “Good Day North Pole 1 – 18”. Click the link below to check it out.
